KLD prides of its “new” Academic Institutes

Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas (KLD) is charting a bold new course in its academic journey, proudly announcing a comprehensive restructuring of its educational framework. This strategic reorganization into specialized Institutes marks a leap forward in providing focused, high-quality education and preparing students for the evolving demands of various professions.

Institute of Foundational Studies (IFS)

This Institute will be a core part of KLD’s academic offerings, providing essential general education courses and basic knowledge crucial for all students, no matter what they choose to major in. Its goal is to create a strong base of knowledge and build critical thinking skills. Leading this Institute is Jerickson C. Bautista, who serves as the OIC Dean.

Institute of Nursing (IoN)

Dedicated to training future healthcare professionals, the Institute of Nursing will continue to equip aspiring nurses with the necessary skills and knowledge. Dr. Fe M. Compas will continue  as the Dean of the Institute of Nursing.
Institute of Midwifery (IoM)

Focused on the vital area of maternal and child healthcare, the Institute of Midwifery will train future midwives in the art and science of providing complete care to women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and after birth. Luchel Z. Gloriani is the Dean of the Institute of Midwifery.

Institute of Engineering (IoE)

For the innovators and problem-solvers of tomorrow, the Institute of Engineering will offer rigorous programs in engineering principles. The list of administrators including the Dean will be released soon.

Institute of Behavioral and Social Sciences (IBSS)

This institute will explore human behavior, society, and culture. It offers programs such as BS Psychology and BS Social Work. Maria Archie A. Cabig is the Dean of the Institute of Behavioral and Social Sciences.

Institute of Computing and Digital Innovation (ICDI)

In an increasingly digital world, this Institute prepares students for technology careers. They offer the programs BS Information Systems and BS Computer Science. Dr. Ferdinand M. Magtibay is the Dean of the Institute of Computing and Digital Innovation.

Institute of Student Affairs, Character Education and Citizenship (ISACEC)

Beyond academics, KLD emphasizes holistic development among the students. This Institute will oversee student services and promote strong values. Ma. Fatima B. Estacion is the new Dean of the Institute of Student Affairs, Character Education and Citizenship.

This revamped academic structure is expected to provide clearer pathways for students and strengthen KLD’s position as a leading educational institution.

Institute of Science and Mathematics (IoSM)

The Institute of Science and Mathematics is dedicated to fostering scientific inquiry and academic excellence. This institute offers rigorous programs designed to equip students with a robust understanding of scientific principles and practical skills essential for a rapidly evolving world. A new course offering at this will be the Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences program. Leading the Institute of Science and Mathematics is the Officer-in-Charge Dean, Dr. Regielene Gonzales.

8th Bayanihan Day: Cultivating Responsibility through Collective Action

The Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas (KLD) conducted its 8th Bayanihan Day, an institutional general cleaning day, an initiative that highlighted the institution’s commitment to both campus upkeep and the cultivation of community responsibility among its students. This significant event was strategically scheduled shortly after major examination periods

During the 8th Bayanihan Day, students were assigned to specific teams and tasks, ensuring thorough coverage of all designated areas. The cleaning efforts encompassed a wide range of campus spaces, including classrooms, stairs and hallways, and restrooms. Teamwork embodies this initiative, with students expected to work together efficiently and respectfully. The “Bayanihan” embodies a fundamental Filipino principle of collective effort for a common good. It mandated the participation of all students, fostering a sense of shared responsibility in maintaining the institution’s facilities and promoting a conducive learning environment for everyone.

KLD emphasized that every student’s contribution was invaluable, directly contributing to the welfare and pride of the institution. The Bayanihan Day represented an opportunity for students to make a tangible positive impact and actively participate in the KLD community.

Try-outs Underway as New Sports Organization, ASTRUM, Emerges

The academic year is set to ignite with a surge of athletic energy as the school’s sports program kicks into high gear. With a strong lineup of dedicated coaches and continuous try-outs, students are encouraged to showcase their talents and contribute to a vibrant sports community.

Leading the charge for our competitive teams are seasoned coaches, each bringing their expertise to cultivate a winning spirit. Earl Jayson Alvaran takes the helm for the Men’s Basketball team, while the Women’s Basketball team’s coach will be announced soon. On the volleyball court, Reygan Espera is guiding the Men’s team, and Jennifer Arasan is leading the Women’s team. Precision and strategy will be honed under the guidance of Norman Aralar for Table Tennis and Roel Abelgas for Chess. Daniel Quitaleg will impart the discipline of Arnis, while Emelito Aguilos will lead our Taekwondo practitioners. For those with powerful strikes, Jucelou Matugas is coaching Boxing, and Fernan Dagasdas will oversee our athletes in Athletics. The fast-paced sport of Sepak Takraw is under the direction of Oscar Bucad, and for the digital arena, Con Marvin Serrano is coaching our E-sports enthusiasts With try-outs ongoing and the impending launch of ASTRUM, the school’s athletic department is poised for an exhilarating year. Students are encouraged to participate, try new sports, and be a part of the growing athletic spirit within our school community. Keep an eye out for further announcements regarding ASTRUM’s official launch and specific try-out schedules!

Community Action for a Cleaner Environment: The Dasmariñas River Clean-Up

A River Clean-Up Drive recently commenced in Dasmariñas, an initiative that highlights a strong commitment to environmental preservation and community involvement. This effort, conducted from May 3 to May 31, 2025 , involved graduating students and faculty members from the Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas (KLD) in a concerted effort to enhance the cleanliness of the Imus River, located behind the Dasma SEB and KLD campus.The River Clean-Up Drive served as a tangible expression of appreciation from KLD’s graduating students to the City of Dasmariñas for providing free tertiary education. Furthermore, this initiative aligned with Provincial Ordinance #2013-007, known as the Cavite Greening Program. The activity was collaboratively arranged with the City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CENRO). Participants included 459 Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSP) students, 164 Bachelor of Science in Information Systems (BSIS) students, and 10 faculty members. They collected waste that was in the river with the use of fish nets, while others performed surface clean-up along the riverbanks to prevent debris from entering the water. The clean-up drive’s importance extends beyond the immediate removal of refuse. It fostered a deeper understanding among students regarding their role in contributing to the community that supports their academic development. The activity offered a practical avenue for promoting environmental consciousness, illustrating how concerted efforts can lead to observable improvements in local ecosystems.This endeavor not only contributed to a cleaner and healthier environment but also instilled a sense of shared responsibility and collective pride among participants. It served as a powerful

reminder that individual contributions, when combined, can achieve. substantial positive change within the community and its natural surroundings.

KLD’s new BS Social Work Program in AY 2025-2026

KLD  is set to broaden its academic offerings with the introduction of the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) program, commencing in the First Semester of Academic Year 2025-2026. Social work professionals play an important role in addressing complex social issues, advocating for vulnerable populations, and facilitating positive change within communities. This new course offering was made possible through the dedicated efforts of key faculty members, Anacoreta Arciaga and Rizel Espinosa.

According to the Report on the Result of Preliminary Assessment (RRPA No. 008, Series of 2025) from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office IV, KLD has substantially complied with five (5) areas/criteria in ascertaining the readiness and capability to operate the above-mentioned program. These areas include administration, faculty, curriculum, library, laboratories and physical facilities. The CHEDRO IV Evaluation No. 2025-088, dated May 2, 2025, confirmed that “the institution is ready and capable to offer the first and second year levels of the Bachelor of Science in Social Work program effective AY 2025-2026.” This official endorsement from CHED validates KLD’s preparedness and commitment to delivering a high-quality social work education.

The BSSW curriculum at KLD, a comprehensive 150-unit program, integrates general education courses, professional courses, and institutionally mandated courses. A significant portion of the professional courses (90 units) is dedicated to Human Behavior and Social Environment, Social Welfare Policies, Programs, and Services, Social Work Practice, and Field Instruction, as mandated by CMO No. 39 Series 2017.

The curriculum emphasizes the intricate relationship between individuals and their environments, equipping students with essential competencies across various domains. These include human rights advocacy, conducting practice-informed research, developing and implementing sound policy practices, and working effectively with diverse populations. The program aims to produce graduates who are not only knowledgeable in their field but also deeply committed to professional and ethical responsibility.

This new offering reinforces KLD’s dedication to academic excellence and its mission to empower students to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Alumni Relations and Industry Relations Unit

In a well-deserved recognition of its strong contributions and dedicated efforts, the Alumni Relations and Industry Relations Unit has been officially named as the Office of the Month.

The unit was central to the smooth organization of the ceremonial dinner for recent board passers. This important event, carefully put together by the Alumni Relations and Industry Relations Unit, was a meaningful way to celebrate the hard work and success of our newest licensed professionals. In addition, the unit also successfully planned the  “one-stop shop” event. This effort made important processes easier for students and alumni, giving them one place to quickly get various services, from career help to ways to connect with alumni. The “one-stop shop” showed the unit’s dedication to being easy to access and helpful, meeting the different needs of its members very well.

Naming the Alumni Relations and Industry Relations Unit as the Office of the Month confirms smart methods, consistent hard work, and a big positive effect on our institution. The unit’s efforts not only improve the institution’s reputation but also bring real benefits and lasting connections for everyone in our community. We offer our sincere congratulations to the whole team for this well-earned award!

Judea Arthuree B. Aquino
Head, Alumni Relations and Industry Relations Unit

KLD is pleased to extend its profound congratulations to Ms. Judea Arthuree Aquino, Head of the Alumni Relations and Industry Relations Unit, who has been named as Employee of the Month

Her role encompasses developing strategies that bridge the gap between academic preparation and professional practice, ensuring that graduates are well-supported in their careers and that the institution remains responsive to industry needs.

Under Ms. Aquino’s guidance, the unit has recently spearheaded two key initiatives that exemplify its dedication to service and innovation. The initiative of having a “one-stop shop” event, is designed to streamline access to essential services for students such as PAG-IBIG, SSS, NBI. Her leadership was evident in the organization and execution of the ceremonial dinner for recent board passers. This event served as a meaningful occasion to celebrate the achievements of our newly licensed professionals and facilitated valuable networking opportunities, connecting them with established alumni and industry figures.

Ms. Aquino’s recognition as Employee of the Month is a testament to her vision, dedication, and the impactful work of the Alumni Relations and Industry Relations Unit. Her efforts are instrumental in reinforcing KLD’s commitment to its graduates’ lifelong success and its continuous engagement with the professional world. We commend Ms. Aquino for her exemplary leadership and celebrate her unit’s continued excellence!
