Lima’t Laya: KLD’s 5th Foundation Week Celebration

The Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas successfully celebrated its “Lima’t Laya,” the  5th Founding Anniversary with a week-long celebration which spanned five activity-packed days from September 29 to October 3, 2025. The entire KLD community was enthusiastically enjoined to participate, showing the institution’s core mission of Building the foundation for the Dasmarineños. The celebration officially kicked off on September 29, with a grand Parade and Opening Ceremony, which gathered participants across the city in the City of Dasmariñas Oval. The day concluded with the highly anticipated Pre-Pageant for the Mr. and Ms. KLD 2025 and Reina Kolehiyala 2025 competitions. The middle of the week was packed with events showcasing both intellectual prowess and artistic talent. September 30, was dedicated to oratory and performance, featuring the Intercollegiate Debate held at the Manny B. Villar Jr. Hall, and the Regals Got Talent competition, which included an Open Category, a Dance Battle, and a Battle of the Bands. On October 1, the physical and mental stamina of the KLD community was tested during the KLD Cup Competition, which separated events for both employees and students. Employees participated in team-building games like The Trust Walk and The KLD Puzzle Challenge , while students competed in a Quiz Bee, Spoken Poetry, and various visual contests, including Traditional Art Making and Mobile Photography. The climax of the week took place on October 2, with the crowning of Mr. and Ms. KLD 2025 and Reina Kolehiyala 2025 at the City of Dasmariñas Arena , followed by a lively After Party themed “Dress To Impress”.

The five-day observance concluded on Friday, October 3, with a community-focused Gift Giving event held in Brgy. Paliparan 3, City of Dasmariñas, reinforcing the college’s dedication to its external community. That evening, the institution capped off its anniversary celebration with a grand Gala Night themed “Retro” for the employees and administrators. The successful execution of the Foundation Week was coordinated by Rudy Bhonne R. De Lara, Director for the Center for Mission, Linkages and External Relations and the event’s Chairperson.

Beyond the competitions and the elegance, the “Lima’t Laya” event served as a powerful declaration of the institution’s collective strength, unity, and unwavering dedication to its students. With five successful years now logged, KLD looks ahead to the future, driven by the cooperation and commitment of its community , as it persists in the mission of Building the foundation for the Dasmarineños.

KLD 9th BAYANIHAN DAY

The powerful spirit of collective action once again galvanized the Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas as the institution successfully held its 9th Bayanihan Day on October 29, 2025. This is a celebrated tradition dedicated to the singular goal of ensuring the entire school remained well-maintained and conducive to high-quality learning. Students, faculty, and staff moved in unison, dedicating to transforming the campus through a massive cleanup drive.

The successful execution of the event followed a precise plan that originated from the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs. The directive laid out a structured cleanup system designed for maximum efficiency across the college buildings. Various student sections and employees were assigned specific rooms and zones to restore and refresh, while units and departments took on responsibility for entire floors. For instance, the Canteen Personnel were assigned the comprehensive upkeep of the Lower Ground of CB1, demonstrating that every member of the KLD community played a direct and accountable role in the upkeep of the facilities. The planning ensured a thorough cleaning, resulting in orderly classrooms, immaculate hallways, and well-organized common areas for the continuing use of the students.

By devoting their time and effort to organize, clean, and revitalize the campus, the participants not only strengthened the physical environment but also reinforced the Filipino value of communal responsibility.

CHED visit signals KLD’s readiness for BS Data Science Program

KLD’s pursuit of offering a Bachelor of Science in Data Science reached a milestone on October 27, 2025, following an evaluation visit by officials from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The visit, centered on the institution’s application for a Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC), saw a distinguished team of evaluators scrutinize the preparedness of KLD to introduce this in-demand program. Leading the delegation was Engr. Loupel B. Gueta, Chief Education Program Specialist from CHEDROIVA, who oversaw the detailed inspection alongside technical panel members Dr. Oliver Malabanan and Mr. Sherwin M. Pelayo, also from CHEDROIVA.

The evaluation process, which reviewed the curriculum structure, faculty qualifications, laboratory facilities, and institutional capacity, confirmed that KLD has laid a solid groundwork for the new degree.

However, as is common in COPC process for specialized fields like Data Science, the evaluators also pointed out specific areas that require further enhancement before final compliance is granted.

Despite the necessary revisions, the overall outlook was highly positive. The visiting CHED team acknowledged the institution’s commitment to quality and readiness to offer the program. The most critical takeaway from the evaluation is the eventual issuance of a Recognition of Readiness for Program Authority (RRPA) for the BS Data Science program. Once KLD submits the required Notice of Deficiencies (NODs) addressing the minor points raised by CHED, the RRPA will be granted, allowing the program to operate for a period of two years.

The Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas, specifically the Institute of Computing and Digital Innovation, and its dedicated BS Data Science faculty is fully committed to completing these requirements promptly to secure the RRPA. This step is intended to allow the program to officially commence, hopefully by the next academic year.

KLD implements scheduled Flag Ceremony and Retreat

KLD is intensifying its efforts to cultivate discipline and national pride within its student body through the formal implementation of a rotational schedule for the Flag Ceremony and Flag Retreat. Issued on November 4, 2025, by the Student Activities and Development Unit (SADU), the memorandum mandates that assigned classes and their faculty members participate in the rites. This initiative, coordinated with the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs , seeks to foster community spirit, discipline, and appreciation for national symbols among KLD students. The schedule is set to cover the period from November 10 to December 19, 2025.

The weekly Flag Ceremony is scheduled for Mondays at 8:45 a.m., marking the start of the week with an act of collective patriotism. Meanwhile, the Flag Retreat is set for Fridays at 5:00 p.m. To ensure smooth implementation, the guidelines emphasize the critical role of faculty members, who are encouraged to accompany their assigned classes and assist in maintaining order during the ceremonies. This structured approach underscores the institution’s focus on “Building the foundation for the Dasmarineños” by integrating civic responsibility into the academic routine.

KLD undergoes Physical Inventory of Assets and Property

A physical inventory of assets and property was successfully concluded at KLD to ensure proper management and accountability across the institution. Conducted over a three-week period from October 6 to October 27, 2025, the exercise was spearheaded by Procurement, Property and Supply Office (PPSU). The primary goal was to verify the actual physical count, location, and condition of all items, while simultaneously validating the accuracy of existing documentation.

The undertaking covered all institutes, centers, and administrative units, with a room-by-room verification conducted throughout both College Building 1 (CB1) and College Building 2 (CB2). The scope was broad, encompassing all City Government–issued assets as well as all donated assets, including items that were previously undocumented. The methodology involved an actual physical counting and inspection, cross-referencing items with PPSU records, and verifying asset tags and serviceability. This systematic approach was designed to support accurate reporting for future audit and compliance requirements. The inventory process yielded several key findings that require immediate corrective action to tighten property management. For instance, assets identified as damaged or non-serviceable now require full documentation, including an Incident Report, before they can be processed for repair or disposal. Issues were also flagged regarding ICT equipment, specifically the need to re-tag certain items and assign new property numbers to resolve issuance discrepancies. Furthermore, the review noted observed improper storage and misuse of assets, prompting an institutional mandate to integrate 6S practices—Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Secure Safety—to improve handling. The PPSU is also now required to ensure that all undocumented donated assets are routed immediately for proper validation and tagging. Finally, efforts are underway to address missing ICT equipment, such as unreturned tablets, which now necessitate an Incident Report and coordination with the City General Services Office (GSO) to recover.

Details about the renewal of KLD website domain, etc.

The institution has taken another significant step in strengthening its digital infrastructure with the acquisition of a new hosting service and the renewal of its official domain. This upgrade aims to provide improved performance, enhanced security, and greater reliability for all web-based services.

The official website is currently undergoing a full design revamp, featuring a modern interface and a Content Management System (CMS) to streamline content updates and management. The redevelopment and testing of the new site are now in progress, with content review being coordinated with the IT Champions. These initiatives are being carried out under the supervision of Cecilia Alvaran, Center for Knowledge Management and Information and Research Development (CKMIRD) Director, with the development team lead by  Mark Christopher Borja, System Analysis and Design Head, Con Marvin Serrano, Mobile and Website Unit Head, and Khristian Ray Andaya, KLD Admissions Web Developer. In addition to the website improvements, the institution has successfully developed and deployed two new systems for the community: Admission System, which digitizes and streamlines the student application and evaluation process. Alumni System, which enhances communication, engagement, and record management for the institution’s alumni. These digital advancements reflect the institution’s ongoing commitment to delivering efficient, accessible, and technology-driven services for its stakeholders.

Market Survey validates strong interest in KLD’s Veterinary curricula

KLD has concluded a major market survey to assess the community interest and professional need for three potential academic offerings in animal healthcare: the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), the Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology, and the Veterinary Nurse (NC III) national certificate program. KLD plans to offer a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology for the 2027-2028 academic year. Last October 01, a Demand Survey was conducted. There was a total of 588 respondents to the survey. The respondents were asked to complete an online survey form to gather information about their interest in the Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology program. Below are the significant results of the survey.

The chart shows an overwhelming preference for the first option, with more than 356 respondents selecting it. This strong result indicates clear alignment between the respondents’ needs and the offering represented by the first option. It reflects confidence, satisfaction, and a positive reception, suggesting that the program or proposal effectively meets expectations and is viewed as the most favorable choice by the greater portion of respondents.

The chart shows a strong preference for the second option, with 362 respondents selecting it—significantly higher than the first and third options. This indicates a clear alignment between the respondents’ needs and the features represented by the second option. The result demonstrates confidence, satisfaction, and a positive reception, suggesting that the proposed program element associated with this option is seen as the most favorable and responsive to stakeholders’ expectations.

The Veterinary Nurse (NC III) technical program also showed compelling demand. While it was the leading third option among respondents, gathering approximately 300 selections, the overall enthusiasm points to a recognition of the need for qualified technical support staff in animal clinics and agricultural settings. This indicates a growing awareness of specialized roles beyond the DVM degree.

Children of KLD employees enjoy Festive Halloween Trick or Treat

The Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas (KLD) successfully hosted its Trick-or-Treat Activity 2025 on October 28, 2025, marking a special Halloween invite for the children of KLD employees. The event, held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., utilized the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) in College Building 2 (CB2) as its staging area. This lighthearted celebration aimed to strengthen camaraderie and the sense of community within the institution, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for the KLD family.

A total of eighty-six (86) children enthusiastically participated in the activity, arriving in a colorful array of creative costumes that heightened the occasion’s spirit. The event featured a planned route where the children visited various participating offices across the campus to collect treats. Logistics were handled meticulously, with staff volunteers guiding participants along a route carefully planned for both safety and accessibility. Participating offices contributed significantly by preparing treats and festive decorations, creating a cheerful atmosphere throughout the college.

To acknowledge the effort and Halloween spirit, three children were specially recognized with the title “Best in Costume.” Their imaginative attires earned them a special token of appreciation and brought added excitement to the gathering. The successful conclusion of the KLD Trick-or-Treat Activity 2025 highlighted the institutional values of camaraderie, creativity, and community engagement. The College extended its sincere appreciation to all participating offices, staff volunteers, and supporting families for their cooperation in making the event a meaningful and memorable experience.

Office of the Month

The Institute of Student Affairs, Character Education, and Citizenship (ISACEC) has been distinguished as the Office of the Month, a recognition that celebrates its deep commitment to student welfare and institutional community building. This honor is a direct result of the office’s consistent execution of programs that go beyond routine administrative tasks, focusing instead on nurturing both the academic success and the moral fiber of the KLD community.

An initiative that contributed to this accolade is the “Hapag Kalinga: Nourishing Minds, Filling Hearts” program. Through this meaningful effort, the Institute provided free meals to KLD students, ensuring they remained energized and focused while taking their midterm examinations. This simple but critical gesture directly supports the global Sustainable Development Goal: Zero Hunger.

Furthermore, ISACEC played a leading role in honoring the dedicated academic staff through the “KLD Celebrates Teacher’s Day!” event. The celebration paid genuine tribute to the faculty, acknowledging them as the “ones who nurture minds and inspire souls.”. By organizing such events, the Institute reinforces the partnership between students, staff, and faculty, emphasizing that KLD is a community where gratitude and mutual support are paramount. The ISACEC continues to set a high standard for institutional service, proving that a focus on humanity and character education drives meaningful change.
